PC/DC (Phosphatidylcholine/Deoxycholate or Deoxycholic Acid) is a fat-dissolving injectable treatment used for non-surgical body contouring and localized fat reduction. It's often referred to as lipolysis injections, Lipodissolve, or fat-dissolving injections.

Unlike fillers that add volume or neuromodulators that relax muscles, PC/DC is designed to reduce small, stubborn pockets of fat.

How Does PC/DC Work?

PC/DC combines two ingredients:

Phosphatidylcholine (PC)

  • A naturally occurring phospholipid
  • Helps emulsify and metabolize fat

Deoxycholate (DC)

  • A bile salt that disrupts fat cell membranes
  • Causes fat cells to break down and be eliminated by the body

When injected into a fatty area:

  1. Fat cell membranes are disrupted.
  2. Fat cells break apart.
  3. The body gradually clears the destroyed fat through natural metabolic processes.
  4. The treated area becomes smaller and more contoured over several weeks.

Benefits of PC/DC

Body Contouring

  • Reduces stubborn fat pockets
  • Improves body definition
  • Creates more sculpted contours

Non-Surgical

  • No incisions
  • No anesthesia
  • No liposuction recovery

Permanent Fat Reduction

  • Once treated fat cells are destroyed, they do not regenerate (although remaining fat cells can enlarge with weight gain).

Customizable

Can be used on multiple small treatment areas.

Common Treatment Areas

Face & Neck

  • Double chin
  • Jawline fullness
  • Jowls

Body

  • Upper arms
  • Bra fat
  • Abdomen
  • Love handles
  • Inner thighs
  • Knees
  • Back fat rolls

PC/DC works best on small, localized fat deposits, not large-volume fat reduction.

Treatment Details

During the Procedure

  • Treatment usually takes 15–45 minutes
  • Multiple small injections are placed into the target area
  • Numbing cream may be used

Typical Treatment Series

  • Usually 2–4 sessions
  • Treatments spaced about 4–6 weeks apart

When Results Start

Week 1

  • Swelling is common
  • Area may feel firm or tender

Weeks 4–6

  • Initial fat reduction becomes noticeable

Months 2–3

  • More visible contouring
  • Continued fat elimination

After Final Session

  • Full results are usually visible several weeks after the last treatment.

How Long Do Results Last?

Results Can Be Long-Lasting

Once the destroyed fat cells are removed, they do not return.

However:

  • Significant weight gain can enlarge remaining fat cells
  • Maintaining a stable weight helps preserve results

Expected Results

Good Candidates

  • Near their ideal weight
  • Have small areas of stubborn fat
  • Want contouring rather than weight loss

Typical Improvements

  • Slimmer jawline
  • Reduced double chin
  • Better body contour
  • Improved definition in treated areas

Common Side Effects

Usually temporary:

  • Swelling (often significant)
  • Bruising
  • Tenderness
  • Redness
  • Firmness or lumps

Less common:

  • Numbness
  • Prolonged swelling

Rare:

  • Nerve injury (particularly under the chin)
  • Skin irregularities
  • Infection

PC/DC treatments are injections of phosphatidylcholine (PC) and deoxycholate (DC). Each of these occur in the body naturally. By adding PC/DC injections, the combination of these two substances work to dissolve and reduce body fat
